How it all began
As a long time supporter of the
International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP),
OfficeTeam, the administrative staffing specialists, saw a need in
the greater
Woodlands area for the formation of a new Chapter. With all the burgeoning growth in
The Woodlands area,
OfficeTeam believed that administrative professionals
needed a resource for information, education and networking with their
peers.
An exploratory meeting was held in the
Woodforest National Bank Building on August 30, 2001. Char Woodard CPS, of
the Greenspoint Chapter, spoke to the dozen or so participants that day to
let them know about the benefits of forming a chapter. With the enthusiasm
generated by Char, it was decided that there was great interest in
establishing The Woodlands Area Chapter of the International Association of
Administrative Professionals.
The first official meeting of the
WAC-IAAP was held on September 20, 2001,
at Montgomery College, Building A. The Chapter was not yet completely
established because we needed 12 paid members. That was to come a month
later.
The first officers for the
WAC-IAAP were installed on November 15, 2001. They included:
-
President Kristen Nangle, OfficeTeam
-
President Elect Catherine Bibawy, OfficeTeam
-
Vice President Sandra Feldman, Anadarko
-
Treasurer Connie Gee, Hewitt Associates
-
Secretary Linda Morris, Louisiana Pacific
Our guest speaker at that meeting was Bill Law, who was at
that time Dean of Montgomery College. We have come a long way since
2001 and owe it all to you - our members! |
